What finishing the exterior means
A roof is more than a milestone to photograph. It means the building is protected from the rainy season, so the work we do inside will not be undone by weather. It also means the hardest structural part is behind us.
When we started the Barray Project, this was a plan on paper. Two years later, there is a building standing in Yarawadu with walls, columns, and a finished roof. The video below shows the last stretch of that roof going on.
Clinic Layout
What is left
The inside is next, and it is where the clinic starts to look and feel like a place where people can be cared for. Here is what still needs to happen:
Flooring: a clean, durable floor that is safe for patients and easy to keep sanitary.
Painting: walls ready for exam rooms, a waiting area, and a supply room.
Other interior work, such as doors, windows, electrical, or plumbing.
We are being careful to finish this part well, because a clinic is only useful if it is clean, safe, and ready to serve people the day it opens. The solar panels we secured through our partners will help power it once the interior is ready.
