General volunteer roles

FUNDRAISING & EVENTS COORDINATOR

Support planning and execution of fundraising events and donor outreach campaigns. Responsibilities include vendor coordination, promotional materials, donor follow-up, and day-of event logistics. No specific background required: enthusiasm and reliability are what we need most.

SOCIAL MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS VOLUNTEER

Create and schedule content across the foundation's social media platforms. Draft newsletters, support website updates, and help maintain a consistent brand voice aligned with the Barray Project. Graphic design experience is a plus but not required.

GRANT RESEARCH VOLUNTEER

Identify grant opportunities aligned with the foundation's global health mission. Maintain a grant prospect calendar, assist with application materials, and track submission deadlines and reporting requirements. Experience with grant databases (Candid, GrantStation) helpful.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT VOLUNTEER

Help with donor database management, correspondence, filing, meeting minutes, and general operations. A great entry point for anyone new to nonprofit work who wants to learn from the inside.

MPH student roles: practicum and capstone eligible

PROGRAM EVALUATION INTERN

Assist in developing evaluation frameworks for the Barray Project's health programs. Collect and analyze community health data, contribute to logic model development, and help prepare outcome reports for donors and grant funders. Coursework in program evaluation, epidemiology, or global health preferred. NVivo or similar qualitative software experience a plus. This role is eligible to count toward MPH practicum or capstone hours at most programs.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NEEDS ASSESSMENT VOLUNTEER

Support data collection efforts related to the Yarawadu community. Responsibilities include literature review, survey development, interview coding, and report writing. Experience with qualitative or mixed-methods research is ideal. Remote-friendly with potential for travel.

GLOBAL HEALTH POLICY & ADVOCACY INTERN

Research policy environments affecting healthcare access in Sierra Leone. Identify advocacy opportunities, draft policy briefs, and support the foundation's engagement with international health organizations and funders. Strong research and writing skills required.

HEALTH COMMUNICATIONS VOLUNTEER

Develop culturally appropriate health education materials for community distribution in Yarawadu and for external donor and partner audiences. Knowledge of health literacy principles and experience with diverse populations preferred.

Medical student roles: global health elective eligible

CLINICAL VOLUNTEER: MEDICAL MISSION (TRAVEL)

In the future , for MD and DO students interested in global health rotations. Assist with clinic setup, health screenings, and patient intake during foundation-organized medical missions to Yarawadu. Must be coordinated with a faculty supervisor. Eligible for global health elective credit at many programs. Travel support may be available, inquire directly.

HEALTH WORKER TRAINING CURRICULUM VOLUNTEER

Help develop training materials for community health workers in Sierra Leone. Content areas include basic clinical skills, maternal and child health, disease surveillance, and referral protocols. This is a primarily remote role with a possible in-person component during mission trips. Open to MD, DO, or MPH students.

MEDICAL SUPPLY & LOGISTICS COORDINATOR

Coordinate collection and donation of medical supplies through hospital and school drives. Manage inventory, shipping logistics, and in-kind donation documentation. Great for a student with interest in global health operations or health systems management.
