When the Roads Stop Us, the Mission Continues

Getting construction supplies to our project site is one of our greatest challenges.

The roads leading to the site are not paved, and their condition changes constantly with the weather. Even during the dry season, transportation is difficult. Our pickup truck often struggles and can still get stuck in soft sand and uneven terrain, slowing down deliveries even when conditions seem favorable.

During the rainy season, the situation becomes even more challenging. Roads quickly turn muddy and nearly impassable. Heavy trucks carrying essential building materials often become stuck, delaying deliveries and slowing construction progress. At times, movement must pause entirely until conditions improve.

To keep things moving whenever possible, we have had to adapt. Smaller loads of cement and essential materials are sometimes transported on motorcycles, which are better able to navigate the narrow, uneven, and unpredictable road conditions. While this method is slower and requires multiple trips, it allows us to continue progress when larger vehicles cannot pass.

Unfortunately, these challenges are part of daily life in remote areas and are beyond anyone’s control. We remain committed to moving forward whenever conditions allow and are deeply grateful for the patience and support of everyone standing with this project.
